The Village of Port Chester is located approximately 25 miles northeast of New York City within the Town of Rye on beautiful Long Island Sound. Originally known as The Port of Chester, it has been home to shipbuilders, oystermen, fishermen, farmers and numerous trades people since its beginnings in 1660.
Today the 26,000 residents of Port Chester's approximately 2 square miles have ready access to Interstates 1-95 and 287, as well as both the Merritt and Hutchinson River Parkways, making it attractive for real estate, to travel to work at any one of the area's many corporate parks or to simply go shopping in the boutiques in nearby Greenwich or White Plains.
Today, true to its original spirit, Port Chester is a center of diverse cultural backgrounds with an ever-changing downtown area offering some of the trendiest restaurants tucked beneath the warm glow of reproduction gas street lamps, yet not far from the everyday fare of hardware stores, leather goods shops and fresh produce markets.
